李長榮:在變革浪潮中謀新局 
 作為一家成立於1965年的化學公司,李長榮化學工業股份有限公司(下稱「李長榮」)在高性能材料、電子材料、生物質材料等領域都有佈局。如何在全球經濟情雲變幻的當下,產業競爭日益激烈的當下,發揮公司競爭優勢,在變革浪潮中謀篇佈局?李長榮化薪資深副總經理王仁隆及其團隊近日接受了本刊記者的訪問。李長榮在產業挑戰與機會中的發展策略、創新實踐以及永續發展路徑。 
 全球佈局降低供應鏈風險 李長榮旗下擁有5大事業單位:高性能材料事業處、工業解決方案事業處、電子材料事業處、生質化學解決方案事業處及互連方案事業處。王仁隆所負責的高性能材料事業處主要產品包括:PP、高性能複合材料、熱塑膠彈性體以及乳聚丁苯橡膠。 談到全球經濟不確定性帶來影響,王仁隆表示:「這對我們的供應鏈造成了一些挑戰,或許會造成我們不同地域的客戶在供應的穩定性上有不同的要求。在這一點上,在我們服務的業務範圍,例如熱塑性彈性體,李長榮具有一定的佈局優勢。因為我們在中國大陸及台灣地區、亞洲其他地區都有可能降低工廠的風險。 為加速全球佈局,近期李長榮與化學科技產品企業華誼集團(CVI Group)達成策略合作,共同成立合資公司-長誼發展有限公司(LVI Materials Ltd., LVI),將專注於聚丙烯(PP)改質材料的產品研發應用與業務推廣。該公司在中國香港設立銷售總部,並以馬來西亞為生產基地,憑藉其地理位置的優勢,能更好地為中國及亞洲市場的汽車、電子、家電、建材等行業客戶提供高性能、可持續的材料解決方案。 目前,李長榮已將改質材料的一些成熟配方轉移到東南亞生產基地,如PCR PP產品、阻燃和抗靜電產品等。王仁隆表示,未來LVI計劃借助中國台灣地區的研發團隊和馬來西亞的生產基地,開發更多符合當地客戶需求的配方。 創新賦能差異化優勢 王仁隆認為,在橡塑產業,供大於求是公認的問題,李長榮在規模上可能沒有辦法與全球大體量的化工廠相競爭,但十分注重新產品研發和客戶互動。過去一年,該公司推出了一系列新的熱塑性橡膠與聚丙烯(PP)產品,在競爭激烈的市場中,創新地提供了特殊的醫療級產品。同時,利用聚丙烯改質材料技術,研發出可回收聚丙烯含量達50%的改質材料,以差異化產品因應市場變化。 「我們希望經過對市場的洞察以及與客戶的互動,能了解市場與客戶的需求,並開發出差異化的產品。」王仁隆表示。 在高性能材料業務中,中國大陸市場的業務佔比高於40%,醫療級PP是主要銷售產品之一。李長榮致力於為全球醫療市場提供安全、可靠且高效能的材料,如抗輻照聚丙烯(PP)、高透明低雜質熱塑彈性體(SEBS 9645D/ 9550U),持續推動技術創新,為更健康、安全的醫療環境貢獻力量。李長榮的輸液器在中國大陸市場銷售多年,佔較大。目前醫用材料的生產工廠位於台灣地區。未來,公司考慮在惠州工廠增加醫療級彈性體生產。 深耕回收塑膠領域 李長榮提出2030年減量42%的目標,並透過永續發展部門統一管理相關項目,將產品生命週期評估的概念納入產品設計,擬定「LCY永續產品6R」(LCY Sustainable 6R)。本公司也正在製程改善及設備淘汰更換方面積極推動節能減排項目,如MVR蒸汽回收再利用、製程控溫節能改善、淘汰變頻設備及最佳化控制系統等。此外,負責電子材料的部門擁有回收電子溶劑的技術,這對減少碳排放量起到了積極作用。 李長榮在回收材料領域已取得一定成果。消費後回收聚丙烯的原料來自中國台灣地區的策略性供應商,這些供應商提供的100%回收聚丙烯經過認證,具有穩定的品質。根據王仁隆介紹,李長榮的研發團隊可依客戶需求,開發出將回收料與新料混合的配方。回收料PP的下游應用廣泛,涵蓋鞋材、化妝品包材、家居用品、汽車產業等多個領域。儘管聚丙烯產業面臨競爭激烈、市場供需不平衡等問題,但李長榮認為,未來回收料的需求將比新料更強勁,公司將持續深耕此領域。 積極擁抱AI科技浪潮 此外,李長榮也正積極擁抱AI科技浪潮。從員工培訓到各部門的實際工作,數位與資訊處的數據科學團隊和卓越營運處的基地數位化部,協助公司進行數據分析和自動化系統導入。 AI Insight與AI School則聚焦於製程優化和研發效率提升,在業務推廣和行銷方面,AI也被用於獲取更多有價值的信息,助力市場分析和客戶洞察。 「AI可以透過分析多年累積的數據,改善製程,我們有內部團隊和第三方公司都在做這方面的研究。例如,在電子材料生產中,AI可預測蒸汽使用量,每年預計節省幾百萬元台幣費用;採購部門運用AI進行原材料價格預測。此外,AI還用於糾正國王隆製程中的錯誤,提高加速器產品率,減少次品和過度使用王。

LCY : Seeking New Opportunities Amidst the Wave of Change 
 As a chemical company established in 1965, LCY Chemical Corporation (hereinafter referred to as "LCY") has a presence in high-performance materials, electronic materials, and biomass materials. How can the company leverage its competitive advantages and strategize amidst the ever-changing global economic landscape and increasingly fierce industry competition? Recently, LCY's Senior Vice President Wang Renlong and his team were interviewed by our magazine. They discussed LCY's development strategies, innovative practices, and sustainable development paths in the face of industry challenges and opportunities. 
 
 Global Expansion to Mitigate Supply Chain Risks LCY Chemical Corporation (LCY) has five major business units: High-Performance Materials Division, Industrial Solutions Division, Electronic Materials Division, Biomass Chemical Solutions Division, and Interconnect Solutions Division. The High-Performance Materials Division, led by Wang Renlong, primarily produces PP, high-performance composites, thermoplastic elastomers, and emulsion styrene-butadiene rubber. Regarding the impact of global economic uncertainties, Wang Renlong stated, "This has posed some challenges to our supply chain, potentially leading to different stability requirements from our customers in various regions. In this regard, LCY has a certain layout advantage in our service areas, such as thermoplastic elastomers. We have factories in mainland China, Taiwan, other parts of Asia, and the United States, which can reduce the risk of supply chain disruptions." To accelerate global expansion, LCY recently entered into a strategic partnership with CVI Group, a chemical technology products company, to jointly establish a joint venture—LVI Materials Ltd. (LVI). This company will focus on the R&D and business promotion of polypropylene (PP) modified materials. The company has set up its sales headquarters in Hong Kong and uses Malaysia as its production base. With its geographical advantages, it can better provide high-performance, sustainable material solutions for customers in the automotive, electronics, home appliances, and construction industries in China and Asia. Currently, LCY has transferred some mature formulations of modified materials to its Southeast Asian production base, such as PCR PP products, flame retardant, and anti-static products. Wang Renlong stated that in the future, LVI plans to leverage the R&D team in Taiwan and the production base in Malaysia to develop more formulations that meet the needs of local customers. 
 
 Innovation Empowering Differentiation Wang Renlong believes that in the rubber and plastics industry, oversupply is a recognized issue. LCY may not be able to compete with large global chemical plants in terms of scale, but it places great emphasis on new product development and customer interaction. Over the past year, the company has launched a series of new thermoplastic rubber and polypropylene (PP) products, innovatively providing special medical-grade products in a highly competitive market. Additionally, using polypropylene modification technology, they have developed modified materials with a recyclable polypropylene content of up to 50%, addressing market changes with differentiated products. "We hope that through market insights and customer interactions, we can understand market and customer needs and develop differentiated products," said Wang Renlong. 
 In the high-performance materials business, the Chinese mainland market accounts for more than 40% of the business, with medical-grade PP being one of the main products. LCY is committed to providing safe, reliable, and high-performance materials for the global medical market, such as radiation-resistant polypropylene (PP) and high-transparency, low-impurity thermoplastic elastomers (SEBS 9645D/9550U), continuously promoting technological innovation to contribute to a healthier and safer medical environment. LCY's infusion sets have been sold in the Chinese mainland market for many years, occupying a significant market share. Currently, the production plant for medical materials is located in Taiwan. In the future, the company is considering increasing the production of medical-grade elastomers at its Huizhou plant. 
 
 Deepening Focus on Recycled Plastics LCY has set a goal to reduce emissions by 42% by 2030. The company manages related projects through its Sustainability Development Department, incorporating the concept of product life cycle assessment into product design and formulating the "LCY Sustainable 6R". The company is also actively promoting energy-saving and emission-reduction projects in process improvement and equipment replacement, such as MVR steam recovery and reuse, process temperature control energy-saving improvements, elimination of variable frequency equipment, and optimization of control systems. Additionally, the department responsible for electronic materials has technology for recycling electronic solvents, which plays a positive role in reducing carbon emissions. LCY has made significant progress in the field of recycled materials. The post-consumer recycled polypropylene raw materials come from strategic suppliers in Taiwan, who provide 100% certified recycled polypropylene with stable quality. According to Wang Renlong, LCY's R&D team can develop formulations that mix recycled materials with new materials based on customer needs. The downstream applications of recycled PP are extensive, covering footwear, cosmetic packaging, household items, and the automotive industry. Despite the fierce competition and market supply-demand imbalance in the polypropylene industry, LCY believes that the future demand for recycled materials will be stronger than for new materials, and the company will continue to deepen its focus in this field. 
 
 Actively Embracing the AI Technology Wave Additionally, LCY is actively embracing the AI technology wave. From employee training to practical work in various departments, the Data Science team from the Digital and Information Division and the Base Digitization team from the Operational Excellence Division assist the company in data analysis and the implementation of automated systems. AI Insight and AI School focus on process optimization and improving R&D efficiency. In business promotion and marketing, AI is also used to gather valuable information, aiding market analysis and customer insights. "AI can improve processes by analyzing years of accumulated data. We have internal teams and third-party companies conducting research in this area. For example, in electronic materials production, AI can predict steam usage, potentially saving millions of Taiwanese dollars annually. The procurement department uses AI for raw material price forecasting. Additionally, AI is used to correct errors in processes, improve product yield, and reduce defects and excessive material usage. AI is our business accelerator, helping us achieve our goals faster," said Wang Renlong.
